Polk County Installs Two 25 Person Storm Shelters

Des Moines, Iowa – Storm Shelters of Iowa installed two large commercial storm shelters for Polk County over the weekend. These two shelters were installed at the counties maintenance sheds on the north side and southeast side of the county.

The FEMA rated storm shelters are rated to hold 25 persons, and are equipped with door locks. These shelters will allow county workers a safe place to seek shelter the next time severe weather rolls through central Iowa.

About the Keypad/Combination Lock

These units have a keypad/combination lock to keep the unit secured at all times. You can either unlock the door with the digital keypad, or the combination lock. The reason there are both is if the battery dies in the digital keypad, the door can still be unlocked with the traditional combination lock.
